Are your sidewalks pushed upward by tree roots?
No problem! We are the only sidewalk levelers in Houston who remove tree roots. We can move sidewalk sections, cut out the tree roots, and put the sidewalk slabs back into their original positions.
Much to the dismay of homeowners, maintenance of public sidewalks is their responsibility. To maintain the appearance and safety of public walkways, many Home Owners Associations (HOAs) cite their residents for the trip hazards on their sidewalks and front walkways.
If you receive a citation for your raised sidewalk, call or email us for a free estimate. Your sidewalk will pass re-inspection — Guaranteed! Our friendly, experienced staff will help you with any sidewalk or walkway project.
Mr. Sidewalk offers the fastest methods to re-level your sidewalk, and to eliminate tripping hazards. Our tree root removal process is the best solution for dealing with sidewalks lifted by tree roots, compared to sidewalk or walkway panel removal and replacement.
However, removing a tree root can be harmful to the tree. We recommend property owners consult with a Certified Arborist prior to scheduling service. Mr. Sidewalk is not responsible for damage to any tree that results from removing tree roots. Mr. Sidewalk is also not responsible for any damage to underground sprinkler lines that may be damaged during the tree root removal process.
In some cases, it may be more practical to replace the sidewalk section than to lower or level it. The decision is based on the age of the concrete, current condition, and accessibility. Contact us for more information, and you are welcome to email pictures of your project. HOA approved.

What we offer
Manual Sidewalk Lowering in Houston (Tree Root Removal)
When tree roots impact and raise a section of a sidewalk, there are two options to correct the trip hazard. One, raise the panels on either side to create a “bridge” over the roots. Or two, lower the affected sidewalk section(s), by removing tree roots and re-grading the area under the sidewalk.
Lowering a sidewalk is commonly requested because of a tree root that lifts one or more sidewalk panels, creating a trip hazard and the risk of injury to pedestrians. First, the sidewalk section must be safely lifted and set to the side. Then the tree root(s) can be removed. Finally, the sidewalk slab is lifted and lowered back into place, and leveled using our sidewalk leveling process.
Why choose manual sidewalk lowering?
The manual sidewalk lowering process is labor intensive, so it is not the most cost effective solution. However, the results can be much more aesthetically pleasing than concrete raising or ramping.
Removing a tree root can be harmful to the tree. We recommend property owners consult with a Certified Arborist prior to scheduling service. Mr. Sidewalk is not responsible for damage to any tree that results from removing tree roots. Mr. Sidewalk is the only company in the Houston area that offers this service.
