Mr. Sidewalk has leveled hundreds of sunken sidewalk and walkway panels in Houston, Texas.
The question we receive most often is how our process is different from other concrete leveling and raising companies that mudjack or use foam.
The answer: We level and raise sunken sidewalks and walkways with our Sidewalk Jack; we do not drill any holes into the sidewalk slabs.
To raise a sunken sidewalk section, we use our Sidewalk Jack to lift the panel about 4-6 inches above the desired height, and then re-grade the area under the panel. The empty space is filled with natural soil materials, compacted, and then the panel is lowered to the desired height.
Since we do not drill any holes into the sidewalk or walkway slab(s), there are no holes to patch and there is no waiting time; the sidewalk or walkway is ready to use as soon as we leave.
Compare Our Process to Our Competitors’ Mudjacking or Slabjacking
Since the 1950s, Mudjacking has been the only solution to restore concrete to its original pour height, other than replacing the slab(s).
With mudjacking, a pattern of holes of approximately 1 1/2″ – 2 1/2″ in diameter is drilled through the surface of the concrete at various intervals. Then a mud mixture is pumped through the holes, which creates a “pyramid” underneath the slab that lifts the concrete. Finally, the holes are filled with concrete patches.
Sidewalk Raising & Leveling is a Better Alternative to Mudjacking
We can level or raise sunken concrete sidewalks and walkways, using our patent-pending Sidewalk Jack. Using our process, we can level or raise sunken sidewalk slabs safely, and provide our customers with a finished product far superior to our competitors’.
Seamless, Clean & Long-Lasting Results
Our customers tell us they prefer our process over our competitors’ because you cannot tell the sunken or raised slab(s) have been touched. Since our process does not require drilling holes into the slab (mudjacking), there are no ugly concrete patches or damage to the concrete.
Why is Mr. Sidewalk’s Process Better?
- Better looking. We do not drill large holes through the surface of the concrete to lift it, so you have no ugly patched holes that make your walkway look like dominos.
- Better curb appeal, with higher property value and resale.
- Better Longevity. We do not use mud to raise your concrete; we use crushed granite.
- Better value. Often our process costs less and saves you money over mudjacking.
- No wait time for drying. You can use your sidewalks or walkways as soon as we are done.
In a nutshell … Mr. Sidewalk’s process provides a better-looking, more permanent solution than mudjacking. See the picture at the top right of this page — that is a sidewalk slab raised using Mr. Sidewalk’s methods. See the pictures below these, which are after being mudjacked.
JUST SAY NO TO MUD JACKING!
Not all sections of sidewalk can be adjusted using our method. In some cases, it may be more practical to replace the sidewalk section than to raise or level it. The decision is based on the age of the concrete, current condition, and accessibility. Contact us for more information.
